Less than two hours drive from Rio´s International Airport, the
Búzios peninsula is far and away Brazil's loveliest beach resort.
And certainly also the most fashionable one. You will find more
romantic beaches, cozy quality-restaurants and biquini boutiques
per square mile than anywhere else. And, though few people know
it, you will also find an 18-hole golf course that is Number One
in Brazil and one of the top ten in all of South America.
The fishermen's village atmosphere with excellent climate throughout
the year is often compared with the Saint-Tropez of the Golden Fifties.
Forget it! Búzios is blessedly less sophisticated, and that's what
makes it truly Brazilian! Including the no-rip-off-nightlife.
Quoting from "Condé Nast Traveler", April 2003:
"Búzios, the Brigitte Bardot-blessed beach resort, has managed
to avoid the typical tacky buildup. Yes, there´s a cluster of
overpriced shops and restaurants, but the peninsula has retained
enough charm to make it worthwile for either beach time (with
more than 20 strands to choose from) or water sports, including,
from October through March, serious fishing . . .."
Villa Três Marias is a kind of Deluxe House, Bed & Breakfast
that has been a hot ticket for knowledgeable travelers ever since
the European owner began to offer lodging in 2001. At this place,
"Deluxe" does not mean any visible five-star hotel standard
but the unique atmosphere of exclusivity and privacy, including
location and environment.
An Executive from the U.S. described it (February, 2003):
" In the midst of the hotel monotony typical of a quality
vacation in Brazil, it was very refreshing to find Villa Três
Marias with its interesting concept. Apart from the genuine friendliness
of our host, the most important component - the suite we got -
was absolutely enchanting. With a huge terrace, greatly outfitted
with hammocks and an ideal view of the bay from mostly everywhere
in the room. This place is so superior to the usual run of five-star
hotels that there really isn't any comparison. "
